A few days ago, I loaned Carl my Orion 17.5 Brushless motor so he can use it to compete in the next race of the Hurricane All Star Series in Madison Wisconsin. I will not be making that race because of prior commitments.
Anyway I get a note in my inbox saying that the motor will not fit and that he is asking the nice folks at RCTech how to remedy this situation. One look at the picture provided and the problem was clear.
It dose not work! Thats all I can say about Carl's TC3 with my Orion brushless motor installed. I was thinking, since the Novak Brushless works, why won't the Orion work?
Its all about the sensor leads. The location of the leads will rub against the motor bulkhead of the car. When I got my TC3 and started racing, I never thought that I would be putting anything else than a brushed motor in the car. Then again, I never thought that I would be putting the same type of batteries I use in my cell phone inside my car. Time marches on and so dose technology.
It has been suggested on the RCTech forms that Carl cut out the bulkhead completely in order to get the wire in place. I have always been against changing any aspect of the car that I bought. There were people that told me long ago to cut out the middle bulkhead of the TC3 in order to get the batteries closer to the center of the car and, in effect, get better handling. I never tried that solution.
Well anyway, thanks Carl for the pic (from RCTech) I will be keeping an eye on your TC3 to see what solution you come up with. For now, Let me stick with my Novak 21.5 Brushless motor and my soon to be built Trans-Am ride.
