Still testing the center one way in the X-Ray

Around 42 racers made the trip to Trackside hobbies for another fun filled Tuesday night race. All the regulars were there (me included). The class of choice was 17.5 but there were plenty of mini coopers and world GT cars at the track as well.

Its my chance to try the center one way in the car now. My setup hasn't changed from the last time but I did change something in the front dog-bone.

The small pin that keeps the axle connected kept slipping out. The slot for it was very loose and there seem to be nothing I can do about it. I did find a second slot on the assembly to put the pin in and I thought that would have fixed the issue. I found out in the B main that the issue remains.

Once that pin wiggles loose, the whole tire assembly becomes completely useless. Its like driving a car with three wheels!

So, In testing the center one way, I was able to lay down a solid 24 lap run to put me in 10th place going into the main. That would have been the A main but they were doing bumps so they only had 6 in the A main to make room for those that win the lower mains. I ended up in the B.

I thought I had a chance to win this main because of how the car was working. I did have to find my way past a few RC vets to win though, and that was going to be tough. As it happened, I slipped up in the first corner and went tumbling into the wall. That put me in last place and something not right with the car. I limped around the track for the rest of the race and afterward I found out that it was the same pin that was the problem before.

So for now my setup with the front Solid Axle and the center one way works. I must say that I never felt this good driving tight into the corners before. And by tight, I mean really tight in the corners. I am convinced that is shaving me tenths of a second per lap. If I practice with it, I will be even better.

For now, I'm just out for a good time.
